Wedding shoesEthereal;

“Extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world.”

Ethereal wedding theme is something out of a fairytale, a dream. By using neutral shades such as beige, ivory, taupe or nude as a wedding colour theme, this inspiration can be achieved effortlessly. It is suitable for fall weddings, especially if it was held outdoors surrounded by nature.

We adore the slip on sandals with the large bow. It is feminine, elegant and charming. The sandals are beige in colour and what appears to be white lace covering the base. From the distance it looks like it has been sprinkled with fairy dust that glitters.

ethereal hairstyleTousled, long and loosely plaited hairstyle is the perfect look for an ethereal wedding theme. The hairstyle can be swept to the side or left loose at the back. Neutral flowers can be added to the overall hairstyle for a whimisical look.

bouquet

This bouquet has various shades of rosy and neutrals, with the greens breaking up the colour palette and providing a perfect contrast. We prefer roses for this ethereal theme as it symbolises different meanings such as spirituality, romance and grace. There is also a sense of quiet beauty about the pink and white roses.

wedding dress

This wedding dress is an absolute dream. Floaty, voluminous yet lightweight at the same time, we love how the blush dress elegantly swishes from the back of the train. We adore the backless V shape of the lace which gives just a hint of sensuality but ultimately it is romantic and whimsical.

The ethereal and neutral theme extends to the bridesmaids. We fell in love with these Grecian inspired dresses in taupe that are either strapless or one shoulder. The hair is elegantly styled in low buns or left loose with wavy tresses. The chiffon material creates a sophisticated and elegant effect that will compliment the bride without overshadowing her on the special occasion.

champagne

Our favourite ethereal engagement ring is this oval champagne diamond surrounded by a halo of diamonds in grain-set, milgrain design. This ring truly embodies a true sense of identity.

With her preference of simplicity luxe jewellery it is not suprisingly she comes to adore jewellery designers Rei-Minohara Starke and Natalia De Burgh‘s unique collections from our quaint jewellery boutique in Mt Lawley. Here we had the pleasure of interviewing Jiawa to gain an inner access into her life in Perth, as well as chatting about fashion, travels, her favourite coffee shop and of course, jewellery.

How would you define your personal style?

I’m all about simplicity, comfort and livability, with a bit of tomboy thrown in. Comfort and style are synonyms in my dictionary.

What are your favourite Australian fashion brands?

My favourites include Toni Maticevski, Ellery and Dion Lee. These brands are redefining Australian fashion design on the world stage at the moment, and taking it by storm.

Where is your favourite place to go shopping?

The only real ‘shopping’ I do is probably at opshops or designer consignment – it’s a treasure hunt. Apart from this, I wouldn’t really say I ‘go shopping’. I don’t browse, and therefore I don’t normally go into shopping malls or even boutiques. As boring as it sounds, ‘shopping’ for me is really more of a list checking exercise, and I do this mostly online. My favourite online destinations are usually my favourite label’s e-boutiques.

Who is the influential figure in your life?

I am influenced by so many amazing people in my life, including people I know personally, and those that I admire from afar. At the moment, I am very inspired by Sophia Amoruso of Nasty Gal. Reading her book Girl Boss confirmed to me that it was ok to simply hit the ground running doing what you love without a plan or an end game, just to see where the journey will take you. What’s important is aligning your life with what you are passionate about.

Are there any hidden gems in Perth you’ve discovered recently?

I don’t think this one would be considered ‘hidden’ to most Perthians, but it’s certainly something I didn’t know about before. I recently dropped by Helen Swift Designer Consignments in Cottesloe and couldn’t believe the calibre of designer pieces she has in from all my favourite international designers.

Where is your favourite holiday destination so far?

While it might not pass as a holiday destination, my birth place, China is my absolute favourite place to visit. Every time I’ve gone back to visit it’s been a life changing experience. The richness of culture you experience in China is both overwhelming and eye-opening.

Where do you wish to visit one day?

I’m going to be really cliché and say Paris, if only it’s because I keep seeing all those gorgeous photos of café strips, tree lined avenues and the Eiffel Tower circulating Pinterest. However, I’m sure I’ll go there and be immediately disappointed by how little resemblance reality has to social media hype!

How would you describe your jewellery style?

I’m extremely minimal when it comes to jewellery. I believe that jewellery should be delicate, simple and personal. It should blend quietly into your personality, rather than upstage you.

What is your favourite piece/or a piece that stood out from Tayha Designs.

I am in love with just about everything made by Rei Minohara-Starke, especially the Branch Ring and the Beaded Horseshoe Pendant. These designs are beautifully simple, are so full of personality. I also love the Pearl Studs by Taryn Compagnoni.

Where are your favourite places in Perth for

i. Coffee:

Harvest Expresso – their Matcha Latte is to die for, and they’re just around the corner from where I live.

ii. Dinner:

Nandos. I’m a fan of simple comfort food.

iii. Breakfast/lunch:

Mary Street Bakery in Highgate – best almond croissant ever.

iv. Bars:

Andaluz. The atmosphere at this place is very me. I don’t go out much, but when I do, I like to feel like I’m still at home!

What’s the best thing about living in Perth?

I think Perth has the best of both worlds of a small town and big city. We have everything that you would get, for example, in Sydney or Melbourne, with great shopping, cafes and local events, but we don’t have to deal with the pollution, crowds and infuriating traffic.

5 words to describe yourself.

Obsessive, socially awkward, and methodically beige.

Jiawa is wearing Natalia De Burgh‘s Smile collection and Rei Minohara-Starke‘s Wattle and Branch collections.
